Balanced Life With Chakra Meditation

Busy day, time is ticking fast and you feel the day lacks enough hours for what you strive to achieve.

Your well-being and productivity are minutes away with this simple meditation practice. Bring yourself into the present moment and feel content. This practice is composed of a yoga pose and a meditation pose with music, for each one of the 7 energy centers from your body, also known as chakras.

Each chakra is linked to a specific benefit: root (security, prosperity), sacral (emotional stability, creativity), solar (power, purpose), heart (love, empathy), throat (self-expression, communication), third eye (intuition, decision making), crown (detachment of ego, wisdom).

Start with some light stretching for 60 seconds before you dive into your first meditation practice. Ground yourself with the following pose, feel the connection with the ground, feel it beneath you.

0-root-position

Stand up straight and relaxed, with your feet at shoulder width and knees slightly bent. Keep your body balanced equally over the soles of your feet. Move your pelvis slightly forward and sink your weight forward. Hold this pose for 30 - 60 seconds.

Tip: There are two meditation positions: sitting with your legs crossed and sitting on your knees, depending on each chakra. If the position is uncomfortable, place a small cushion bellow you. While sitting cross legged, you can place your back against a hard surface to relieve lower back tension.

1. Root Meditation

Located at the base of the spine, it stands for being secure, grounded, prosperous and well-balanced. You feel present in the moment and deeply connected to your physical body.

If the root chakra is overactive, you may behave materialistic and greedy. If it's under-active, you tend to be fearful or nervous.

  3. Listen to the relaxing music, breathe in and gently say "Lam" as you exhale. Vetiver essential oil can be used.
